Toy Story 3 for Best Picture?

Toy Story 3

Disney announced that it will campaigning for Disney/Pixar's Toy Story 3 to be nominated in the Best Picture category for next years Academy Awards.

Only two animated films have ever been nominated for Best Picture and they were both from Disney: Beauty and the Beast in 1992 and Up in 2010.

With this new 10 Best Picture nominee thing the Academy is doing, it is very likely that this film will be nominated for Best Picture because it was an all-around perfect film. Whether it'll take the Oscar home, I don't know. I guess we'll see!

Good luck Toy Story 3!

My Generation cancelled!

My Generation

And this is why I don't watch television.

ABC cancelled it's new Thursday night drama, My Generation, which is a mockumentary that follows 10 high school seniors and sees where they end up in ten years, due to poor ratings.

I think if they were to have advertised more and waited maybe a year, this show would've been more successful. Why wait a year? I feel as though people are still adjusting to mockumentary style shows with Modern Family and The Office being to two biggest ones out.

What pisses me off more is that the show was cancelled after two episodes. Same thing happened to The Beautiful Life: TBL last year on the CW. This is why I hate watching new shows: many of them don't succeed. Just when I get into the story, they pull the plug. At least finish out an entire season. You can't just start a story and cut it short right in the middle. This is why I like movies... they at least finish the story. And it's also why I wait til series are completed before getting into them, or at least several seasons in.

It should be illegal for networks to just cut off series like that. I'm done with television.

Deathly Hallows is PG-13!

Yay, but R would be funner! >:)

The MPAA gave Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part I a PG-13 rating for "some sequences of intense action violence and frightening images."

Emma Stone is Gwen Stacy in Spider-Man!

YAY! Emma Stone has been cast as Gwen Stacy in the new Spider-Man reboot.

Hopefully her character won't be too comedic and will take the part seriously. Although, I don't much care for the idea of the reboot, I'm happy to see Emma cast in an action role! Although... why Gwen Stacy?! Random and minor.

So excited now. At least we know the movie will be good. ;)

Premiere Month is Over!

I'm gonna let you guys no what I thought of a couple of new shows.

Undercovers on NBC.

The show isn't bad, but I don't think it's all that that it's hyped up to be. The show follows a married couple who are also secret agents. The married jokes are so old and not funny. But (after seeing the first two episodes) I think the series will follow such shows as CSI, :Miami, and :New York in the sense that they will solve the case all in one episode. So, for now, it seems as though you can not watch for two weeks and just pick up with a new episode. For me, that's a plus.

No Ordinary Family on ABC.

It's basically "The Incredibles" in live-action. The show seems cheesy and unoriginal, but I'm a sucker for people with powers so I enjoyed it and I'm interesting in seeing the next one. I'm just not sure if the show will make it.

The Whole Truth on ABC.

A court drama where you follow the two sides of the case: the prosecutor and the defense. This is also set up like The Undercovers where it's a case an episode. You go through the whole trial listening to both sides and then at the end of the episode they reveal the truth. According to the ratings in its premiere, it flopped, but I liked it kinda. Although Maura Tierney needs to grow out her hair. I don't like it.

My Generation on ABC.

This is the one I mainly wanted to talk about. It's interesting. It's shot like Modern Family and The Office; all reality style. But it's meant to be like a documentary following kids from high school and seeing where they ended up 10 years later. While watching the episode, I didn't much care for it, but once I got to the end I was kind of hooked and I'm intrigued to see what happens next. It's pretty good, but I don't think it'll make the cut. I think ABC to cancel any day now.

Hellcats on the CW.

It's CW's new hit show and I've been watching it. I'm a fan of Ashley Tisdale and Aly Michalka. The show isn't that original. It's name could've been Bring It On: The Series. But I need a new teen drama to watch, so this is good for me.

Movie Review: Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines

Warning: May contain spoilers. You've been warned.

Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines is on TV right now, so I figured I'd review it.

The Story.

The story takes place in 2004, 9 years after the events of Terminator 2. John Connor (Nick Stahl) cannot be located so Skynet sends the TX (Kristanna Loken) back to kill his future lieutenants. Meanwhile, Kate Connor (Claire Danes) sends back a T-800 (Model 101) (Arnold Schwarzenegger) to protect herself and John. Apparently, Judgement Day is inevitable.

Personally, I think this movie is very underrated. Yes, the story is basically a carbon copy of Terminator 2, but it has it's own strong points.

This is the Terminator movie not to be written and directed by James Cameron, which is rather said. After the hype that was Terminator 2, James Cameron said there would be one, but when 12 years passed and he didn't move on it, he decided he would just leave it as it was: perfection.

They "killed" off Sarah Connor which was kind of disappointing. Linda Hamilton just wasn't interested in reprising her role (most likely because of her divorce from James Cameron). How did they kill her off? Leukemia. I like this. Now, before you going bitching that I'm glad she died of leukemia, I want to explain that I liked it because she died of something that no one can prevent. And also because it wasn't a gun or a terminator or an explosion that killed her.

Like many things in the early 2000s, everything revolves around computers and viruses. A virus that is Skynet is taking over. Typical.

And sending back a female Terminator is expected. After having 2 movies with only male Terminators, of course you'd do whatever you can to make the new one stand out and that is by having a female Terminator. Although it's unoriginal because it's expected, I liked that it was a she.

The Actors.

Arnold Schwarzenegger reprises his titular role as the Terminator and nothing really changes about him. Although, in this film, we understand that he comes off an assembly line and that he is not the same Terminator as the one that John befriended in Terminator 2.

People complain that Nick Stahl was poorly cast as John Connor
calling him a whiner and a coward. Me? I think he was cast perfectly and his portrayal was right on. People imagine John Connor to be brave and fearless. Well when you're a ten year-old child like John in Terminator 2 and you were being hunted by a machine that can shape-shift, take the form of other people, and carried a gun and lost the best friend because he was a machine, you would become a frightened, mentally-scarred child. Terminator 3's John Connor lives in fear like he should and makes sure he cannot be found. I thought he was perfect.

Kristanna Loken was enjoyable. She had little to no lines. In fact, she spoke all of her character's lines in the first 25 minutes of the movie. She, the actor, never speaks again. I wish she had more lines. It would've made her more frightening.

The Rating.

I'm happy that his movie received an R rating. I believe I express my disappointment in Terminator Salvation's PG-13 rating in its review. I'm happy that the action, profanity, and nudity was enough to give it an R-rating. Sad thing is, there was less action and much less swearing than the original two movies.

The Necessity of the Film.

I was 13 when this movie came out and I was so happy it did. The Terminator series is one of my favorites along with Harry Potter and such. To me, just the fact that there was another Terminator movie was awesome. I'm now old enough to know that this movie was not necessary. I do believe that it was necessary that they made a fourth one after the release of this one. Terminator 2: Judgement Day closed the series, and Terminator 3 opened it again to more films. It was unnecessary to make this film, but I would be lying if I said I didn't want it.

References to the Previous Terminator Films.

The Terminator series is really good with keeping up with tradition... and breaking them. This movie carries on the "I'll be back," "come with me if you want to live" lines. This time the lines were "I'm back," "she'll be back," and "do you wanna live? Come on!" The fourth one also does it's own variations but this one made the most drastic changes and changed them for comedy which I didn't particularly care for.

There were also some minor, unnecessary comedic scenes that I didn't care for. Such as when he is finding clothes and he puts on the star-shaped sunglasses. Really? Why did he need to do that?

Overall.

I enjoyed the movie. I did. It's not my favorite, but it's apart of the original trilogy and I'll back it up if necessary. It's a part of the series... now deal with it!

2011 Super Bowl featuring the Black Eyed Peas

Got some news about the Black Eyed Peas.

1. It's rumored that they will be the featured performers of the 2011 Super Bowl Halftime Show! It's about time in my opinion. Planners for the halftime show were also interested in getting a country singer and having a country theme (fuck that!). These artists, according to Wikipedia, are Jimmy Buffet, Journey, Bon Jovi (didn't he do one?), Kenny Chesney, Tim McGraw, and Lynyrd Skynyrd. You know who my vote's for!

2. Their new album, "The Beginning", is due out November 30th, but more importantly, their new single, "Bang Bang Get It", is rumored to be released this Tuesday (October 5th)!

3. I'm in love with a song of theirs. Missing You. Listen...

Movie Review: You Again

Warning: May contain spoilers. You've been warned.

I love me some Betty, some Jamie Lee, and definitely some Sigourney.

I definitely overhyped the film but in all honesty, I wasn't expecting much. However, I did enjoy it. It was funny and I think that was mostly because of Jamie, Sigourney, and Betty.

I liked the story, but like all comedies like this, it's predictable.

I liked how Kristen Bell kept having things happen to her that made her look like she did in high school. (The haircutting, the ant bites, and the glasses).

People are saying that Sigourney was miscast and they questioned why she would ever go from Avatar to this. Those people are idiots. I thought she was perfect for the role. You can't see her as a snobby, self-centered bitch? I can.

I've missed Jamie Lee. We haven't seen her in a good comedy since Freaky Friday with Lindsay Lohan. She's so good! She and Arnold really need to team up for a sequel to True Lies.

And of course, Betty. Obsiously they hired her because she's the 'it girl' of 2010. Attaching her to any movie guarantees an extra $3 million at least at the box office.

Kristen Bell is someone I'm still trying to warm up to. I feel like she would be a better bitch like she was in Forgetting Sarah Marshall. But, I'm still trying to warm up to her.

And her arch rival, Odette Yustman was good. I liked her. I definitely could watch her in another movie. She's very pretty!

I loved the Alien and Avatar references throughout the film. I caught three: When they first meet Sigourney Weaver's character, Kristen Bell's little brother says she looks digitally created (Avatar); when Kristen Bell's older brother and his fiancée look through photo albums, Will gestures to his face saying how something was wrapped around it and attached to it (like a facehugger in Alien); and when the say Sigourney Weaver's character looked like she never aged, it obviously a reference to both Alien and Avatar because when they're in cryo, they don't age although years go by.

So for those of you debating whether to go see it in theaters or not, I say wait until the DVD comes out. You should really want to see it to see it in theaters.

Movie Review: Wall Street

Warning: May contain spoilers. You've been warned.

I want to see the new one, so naturally I need to see the first one.

It was decent. Nothing amazing, but not complete crap.

I would've probably enjoyed the movie more if I understood more about Wall Street and the stock market. It's just one of those things that I will never and can never understand.

Regardless... I tried my hardest to follow along and I think I did pretty well. Just had a hard time with the lingo of the stock market.

Seeing Charlie Sheen as the star of a movie is so difficult for me. There are only 2 movies I've seen him in and that is Ferris Bueller's Day Off and Scary Movie 3 (plus his cameo in Scary Movie 4). It's just so unusual because all you see him star in now is Two and a Half Men and he has just become his character. You can't see him as anybody else. It was weird seeing him be serious, but I enjoyed it. (And if you close your eyes, it's sounds like his brother Emilio Estevez! They sounded exactly alike back then!)

And I loved Michael Douglas as Gordon Gecko! He deserved that Oscar (although I haven't seen any of the other movies). He was so intense.

The only thing I had a problem with (besides not understand the stock stuff) was the ending. What a piece-of-shit ending. You don't even see what happens. Is it assumed that Bud Fox goes to jail although he helped bring down Gecko. And the only reason I know Gordon Gecko went to jail is from the trailer for the second film. They just cut off the movie in a terrible spot. I was very disappointed with that. Otherwise, it was a decent movie.
