New Members of the Academy

Each year, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (as in the Oscar's Academy or the Academy of the Academy Awards) invites new recruits into the Academy which gives them voting rights for the awards show.

This year, 135 'artists' were admitted. Here are a few of the big ones:

-Jeremy Renner (of The Hurt Locker)

-Mo'Nique (of Precious)

-Gabourey Sidibe (of Precious)

-Saoirse Ronan (of Atonement and The Lovely Bones)

-Tobin Bell (Jigsaw from the Saw Series)

-U2's Bono

-Adam Shankman (director of A LOT)

-Morgan Spurlock (the Super Size Me guy)
